Deposits/ delivery

With the advent of technology and the world wide web, you now have the ability to locate and purchase a puppy from virtually anywhere in the world.  While this may be a wonderful thing, it's also brought scammers out of the woodwork! 

Unfortunately for those of us who are legitimate and reputable breeders, too many potential puppy buyers are falling victim to these scams and making all buyers leery of paying deposits.  Understanding the puppy buying process and educating yourself on how to spot a scammer may help you understand that deposits exist to protect you the buyer as well as the breeder.  Being able to spot red flags will go a long way to helping you determine if the seller you're considering is legitimate.   

A good breeder will have a straightforward application and payment process to make sure they're placing their puppies in the perfect home.  Once the breeder has accepted your application and approved you for one of their puppies, most will require an upfront deposit to hold that puppy for you or lock in your spot on their waitlist.  Deposits are typically non-refundable but with a good breeder, can usually be applied to another puppy if for some reason you can't move forward with your purchase until a later date.  

When selling a litter, the breeder needs to feel confident that the puppy they're holding for you will have a home when he/she is ready to leave.  A buyer that is willing to place a deposit on that puppy is less likely to back out of the transaction, leaving the breeder with a puppy that he/she could have possibly placed with another family.  Bringing a new puppy into your home is a decision that shouldn't be made lightly, breeders want to work with buyers who have considered their decision carefully, have done their research and are truly willing to commit to providing a forever home for their puppies.   Requiring an upfront deposit does help to ensure most buyers are serious and ready to make that commitment.  

Nonrefundable deposits help breeders:

• Select great forever homes for their puppies when breeders have the most time and energy to devote to this important task.
• Focus fully on caring for and raising their puppies and dog moms.
• Know that their financial and time investment in their puppies, dogs and buyers will be compensated in a timely manner.
• Avoid scrambling to find homes for and raise unexpected pups.

• When is my Deposit due?  Puppies will be offered for hold at 4 weeks of age.  Your deposit is due when you secure a hold on a particular pup.

• Can I pay by check or credit card?  No

• Is my deposit refundable if for some reason I change my mind or circumstances change?  Deposits are nonrefundable.  

• Is my deposit transferable if I still want a pup but can't take one from this litter?  Deposits can be transferred to another pup at the discretion of Round Table Bullies if enough notice is provided.

• Is my deposit applied to the total cost of the pup or is it an additional fee?  The deposit is subtracted from the total cost of the pup.  The balance is due at the time of pickup.

• What happens to my deposit if something happens to my pup before pickup or he/she doesn't pass the health screening?  Deposits can be transferred to another litter if the pup becomes unavailable for any reason or will be refunded at the discretion of Round Table Bullies.

• Can I see the pup in person before placing a deposit?  For the health and safety of the litter, we typically do not allow visitors until the pups have had at least the first round of vaccinations.  RTB is more than willing to provide Facetime visits.

• I'm uncomfortable putting a deposit on a pup I can't see.  Round Table Bullies is more than happy to provide references, facetime videos and pictures.  Just ask!

• How can I pay my deposit?  Round Table Bullies accepts cash, paypal, cash app and venmo.

• Once I've paid my deposit, will I get updates on my pup?  We will do our best to provide daily litter updates on our Facebook page and by Facebook messenger or text.

• Can I put a deposit on a pup before the litter is born or before the 4 week timeframe?  We want to make sure all pups are developing normally before taking any deposits, however, we may allow a "hold" prior to the 4 week timeline.
